VU Medical Centre

Amstelveen is a very central city in Holland. It is near big city's like Amsterdam and Utrecht, near Schiphol Airport and it is lucky to have a few major Hospitals in the neighbourhood. The first is the Vrije Universiteit (VU) - Free University. The UvA and VU Science Departments work together to strengthen and improve their teaching and research. By joining forces knowledge, specialized facilities and infrastructure are shared. This creates a strong substance beta cluster in Amsterdam. The Institute for education and training consists of VU University Medical School of Medical Sciences, VU University Medical Center and VU University Medical Amstel Academy. Together they stand for educating healthcare professionals at a high level.

VUmc also has a Cancer Centre; https://www.vumc.nl/afdelingen/steun/pijlers/cancer-center-amsterdam/

AMC

Amstelveen lies near Amsterdam Zuid - Oost (South - East) where the Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC) lies. The Academic Medical Center or; AMC, is the largest hospital in Amsterdam and at the University of Amsterdam. The building houses patient care (medical) research and education in one building, which is unusual in the world of international hospitals. In 2013 the entire organization had an average headcount of 6,050 Full Time Employees.

Amstelland

Next to the VU and AMC, Amstelveen itself has a Hospital; Ziekenhuis Amstelland.

Amstelland Hospital is the only designated hospital for the residents of the region Amstelland (Amstelveen, Aalsmeer, Uithoorn, Ouder - Amstel) and the Jewish community in the Netherlands. In the hospital are represented all basic specialties; which means that they treat and care for all common diseases.
